Larry Rhodes was born in 1963 and raised in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.  He attended Pauls Valley Public Schools graduating in 1981.  Following high school, Larry went to work for Centrilift Submersible Pumps working both in Pauls Valley and Midland, Texas for over five years.
Larry Rhodes and Annette Gorden married on August 17, 1984 at Beaty Baptist Church.  They have two daughters, Larissa Johnson and Lacey Rhodes.  Larry and his wife have family members throughout Garvin County and are proud to call Garvin County home.  Larry and Annette attend the First Baptist Church of Paoli as members.
In 1988, Larry joined the Oklahoma City Police Department. He was recognized with the department’s Top Recruit Award upon graduation from the 101st Oklahoma City Police Academy.  Larry Rhodes served over 22 years as a police officer in Oklahoma City, holding the positions of patrolman, field training officer and the ranks of sergeant, lieutenant and captain in the state’s largest police agency.  Larry completed a variety of assignments throughout his distinguished time with the department.
On November 3, 2010, Larry Rhodes became the fourteenth person elected to serve as Sheriff of Garvin County.  Sheriff Rhodes took office three days after his election and has served proudly since that time.
Sheriff Rhodes holds an Advanced Law Enforcement Certification and a Basic Law Enforcement Terrorism Certification in the State of Oklahoma.  He is an active law enforcement instructor on a variety of topics including, police ethics, criminal investigation, domestic violence and terrorism.  Larry is a member of the Oklahoma Sheriff’s Association and the Oklahoma Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association.  During his career in law enforcement, Sheriff Rhodes has attended numerous schools and training including homicide investigation, crime scene investigation, narcotics investigation, emergency management and police supervision and administration. 
Sheriff Rhodes holds an Associate’s Degree in Police Science from Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City and a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Oklahoma City University.  Sheriff Rhodes is a 2009 graduate from the Senior Management Institute for Police in Boston.  Larry attained a Law Enforcement Certification in 2003 from the University of Central Oklahoma.
Sheriff Rhodes believes a commitment to public service, hard work, and integrity is vital for law enforcement officers.  Since being elected as sheriff, Larry has restored accountability and trust to the office.  Sheriff Rhodes believes a tough on crime approach is the best strategy to protect the personal safety and property of the residents and business owners of Garvin County.
Under the leadership of Larry Rhodes, the Garvin County Sheriff’s Office has become a full service agency delivering 24 hour, 7 day per week law enforcement services.  As the chief law enforcement officer of the county, Sheriff Larry Rhodes has established a professional sheriff’s office effectively serving all the people.
