Sheriff Jim Mullett
Born in Tucson, Arizona in 1968, Jim Mullett’s family moved to Garvin County, Oklahoma in 1999, where he and his wife Melissa have been proud residents ever since. After graduating from Amphitheater High School, Jim pursued his studies in Business Administration & Management at Pima Community College for four years. He has been happily married to Melissa since 1990, and they have been blessed with two wonderful sons, Jonathan and Anthony, the latter of whom has served in the military and now serves as a Cleveland County Deputy.
In 2003, Jim was hired as a Detention Deputy with the Garvin County Sheriff’s office and, in the following year, was promoted to Field Deputy. He rose through the ranks quickly, becoming Sergeant of Patrol in 2007 and Undersheriff in 2009. This vast experience in various roles within the Sheriff’s Office has given Jim a profound understanding of the importance of every position and the skills required to run a successful organization, ensuring the safety of Garvin County citizens.
Jim’s hard work and dedication to his career and community are evident in the many hours he has spent in C.L.E.E.T. training. He has accumulated over 1900 hours of training and holds an Advanced Law Enforcement C.L.E.E.T. Certification. In 2015, he graduated from the Sheriff’s Academy and became a member of the Oklahoma Sheriff’s Association and hold a position as chairman with the Board. Jim is also certified through the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and FEMA as an Incident Commander.
In addition to his professional achievements, Jim is an active member of the community. He has been a Karate Instructor with White Tiger Combat Karate for years, something he began as a hobby to spend time with his youngest son, and has since achieved his 3rd-degree Black Belt. Jim is a man of high moral standards and endeavors to live a Godly and ethical life, which he intends to apply as Sheriff of Garvin County.
Jim’s dedication and commitment to Garvin County did not go unnoticed. In 2019, he was appointed Sheriff and was later voted in as Garvin County Sheriff in 2020. With his extensive experience in the Sheriff’s Office and his commitment to ethics and the community, Garvin County can be sure that Sheriff Mullett will serve them well.
